FAR Version 4 marks a significant step forward in the evolution of this popular software product. This release will work with either a Version 3 or a Version 4 license key code, however version 3 users will see the Version 4 features expire after a certain time.

So Version 3 license keys will work in Version 4?
Yes. Version 3 users can download Version 4 for free. Your Version 3 license keys will work in Version 4, however some Version 4 features will eventually expire with time and become unavailable. We felt this was the best compromise for everyone since it allows Version 3 users to receive the many minor enhancements and fixes. It also simplifies code management for us.
So the new release represents both:
- a major upgrade to Version 4 features (if you purchase a new license)
- a minor upgrade for Version 3 customers (many minor improvements and fixes free)
Should I purchase Version 4?
Before you run out and purchase a V4 license please check it out first. The features of FAR are diverse and it's possible that some customers may not see any significant benefit from purchasing a Version 4 license.
Note: Version 3 and 4 software will run happily side by side if installed to separate folders. To set up either Version 3 or 4 with the appropriate file associations simply use the "Options > Preferences > Explorer" page.
Cost of Upgrade
Given that FAR is already very cheap to purchase we decided not to provide a low cost upgrade path for Version 3 customers. So to upgrade its simply a matter of purchasing a Version 4 license.
